Catholic Cardinal Visits Bruderhof Community

I found this interesting given the Bruderhof community supports Rod Dreher's Benedict Option. I suppose this tells us how ecumenical so many "anabaptists" have become and I find it interesting that a Catholic Cardinal paid a visit to this "intentional community".

It's unfortunate to see so many Anabaptists reaching their hands across the gulf to Rome. These people were the real heroes of the reformation not Luther, Zwingli or Calvin. More Anabaptist blood was shed in the 1500's and 1600's than all of the first 3 centuries of the early church combined. For anyone who doesn't know much about the Anabaptists watch the movie "The Radicals". Men likem Michael Sattler, Conrad Grebel, George Blaurock, Andreas Fischer, Oswald Glaidt, Hans Hut, Balthasar Hubmaier would all be rolling in their grave if they knew what today's Anabaptists fellowships have become.

I agree, they were the ones who suffered the most back then, what would those who have lost everything think of those visiting with Catholic Cardinals. It is horrifying.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want... said...

Oh LORD Jesus!

And he sat in their presence promoting the worship of the image of the cross talking about "reminding ourselves of it". And the elderly pastor was lost for words while the cardinal held his cross like without it he is nothing.

The WORD of God explicitly states, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18).

The keyword is "preaching" and NOT wearing or holding the cross. That's how subtle evil is.

You are spot on. How many celebrities who worship the evil one, wear crosses around their necks as if they are followers of Jesus Christ? It's not the icons that make one a believer and follower of our LORD and Master, it is the circumcision of the heart by the power of God, the Holy Spirit, that leads one to be saved by the blood of the perfect Lamb, JESUS.

The harlot churches sure do love their icons, do they not? Graven images.

I attend an Anabaptist church and I certainly don't like to see this meeting with Catholics.. However, there are so many different kinds of Anabaptists that they all can't be grouped together. Also, many may call themselves Anabaptists but aren't really. Others don't teach the need to be born again, such as the Old Order Amish.
there are those trying to lead Anabaptists astray, such as learning from the early "Church Fathers" or undermining faith in the KJV. I stay with my congregation for the time being, as they were the first ones to get the Gospel through to me. In my Christian Science days, I had some Christians witness to me, but God used the Anabaptists to get through my hard head and hard heart. I have loyalty to Jesus first though, and want to be open to His leading. BB, I am praying for you, sister, and our ladies' SS class can pray for you and your husband tomorrow. We all have struggles, but we can lift each other up. Keep the faith!

The Bruderhof have been connected with papal Rome for a long time. These same people in the video shared were on a Roman Catholic TV show in 2011:

I do not promote this channel but here is much more to consider on the Bruderhof and their errors:

I also had done some serious research into the groups that people say are our Anabaptist forefathers and it shocks me to find how many of these groups were in heresy, many held beliefs that are Gnostic. Just because someone believes in believer's baptism does not make them Christians. Be a Berean, know the Word (Bible) and judge their fruit by what the Bible says.

Many people try and say that the Mormons are Christians because they have many things in common with Christianity. They will even say that part of the proof is that they were persecuted for their faith. Mormons are Gnostics and not Christian at all, they are in heresy, they have a different gospel and a different Jesus that the one of the Bible.

It is my prayer that the Lord would give His people ever greater discernment, protect each of us from error, and strengthen our faith ever more as the days grow darker.

I would be careful about labeling the Anabaptist's pioneers as gnostic. Most of them were pretty on point and indeed were the real heroes of the reformation. The only group that were seriously in error were the Munsterites that got into violence (rebellion), polygamy. Much of the accusations against the Anabaptist's come from the Calvinist and Luther heretics from that day brought false accusations against them. The reason why some brings false accusations against the Anabaptist's is because they were not into creeds and didn't acknowledge the ecumenical councils. For an Anabaptist, Christianity was a way of life not a set of systematic doctrines.the Anabaptist's often did not get involved in the philosophical speculations of theology which the Protestants were obsessed with.
