Fired for Saying "Have a Blessed Day!"?

Many work place rules are becoming more and more oppressive. They'll drag you to New Age visualization training sessions for "teamwork" but give a greeting that speaks of God even in a vague fashion and you are out the door!

When I was doing the corporate thing upper management was pushing "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", which I equated to new age self-help caca. They want to indoctrinate you, but you must leave your faith at home. - Don

See, I would not have a problem with a private company firing anybody for anything as long as that standard was equal.

I think that a private company should be able to fire anyone for anything. This includes race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, whatever.

I also think that a private company has a right to refuse service for whatever reason, race, sexuality, gender, religion. Meaning christians could refuse service to whomever they choose. We should have freedom of association.

How can the word "blessed" be offensive? My sons' friends, who go to public school, have told us that the students talk absolutely filthy, and the teachers, principle, et al do nothing. Students who do not like to talk in this way are forced to listen to filth. Children! But an adult, who most likely uses filthy language themselves, is offended at the word "blessed"?

God's Word tells it all though: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa 5:20, KJV).

This story is grievous. I'll be praying for her.

I'm praying for her too. I know it is a nice alternative to all the nasty talk. Even someone being friendly and offering someone a nice message, what is wrong with that? Yes this world is upside down, and God's Word warns of these things coming.

Anon, freedom of association I agree with, though sometimes with the megacorporations and other societal institutions like schools, I am noticing already that if one has certain beliefs, they are drummed out. I do not know what the solution to that is. One thing I worry about is people losing livelihoods for no reason at all as wicked bosses and servants of Satan throw them to the curb. However mandating all decent behavior via law, can backfire.

There are areas of the country now where if you are a born again Christian and it is found out, no one will hire you. I have noticed with some big time jobs, a conforming liberalism is required.

Grace - Someone told me that even a lot of the young women at the local college talk really filthy. It is really sad. They must be learning it really young.
I was in a store over the weekend and some young man with tatoos and piercings sneezed; and I said,"Bless you". I actually thought; I wonder if I could get asked to leave for that. I didn't; but the young man didn't say anything. He ignored me...
