Southern Baptist Convention Losing Members

How many are voting with their feet, getting out of false churches? I have met people who have left SBC churches because they went apostate. Also they lose the "more liberal" church goers to the action-packed megachurches.

Overall Declining Numbers for Southern Baptists Heartbreaking, Says Leader

This is the tradition my wife and I came out of. My gauge now when we are around other believers is if there is any spiritual authority, other than Jesus Christ, I simply am not interested in fellowship as it is not true. - Don

The SBC is actually becoming liberal Rick Warren-style pablum, more and more. Other SBC places are turning to join up with calvinist garbage. SBC is a dead man walking.

My mother in law's Lutheran church just left their largest denomination because they are appointing gay clergy now.

More churches & Christians are 'coming out of her'. It is an answer to prayer.

It is also near miraculous to watch God pull the sheep out from the goats. Almost as if His plans & perfect timing are beginning to be accomplished before our eyes.

I have visited SBCs, its a very bad scene out there.

This article was based on an SBC I visited...

I agree Don if there is any spiritual authority but Jesus Christ, time to get out.

Anon yes the "conservative" Anons are going Calvinist while liberal ones are going towards Rick Warren. Why stay SBC then when there's plenty of Multi-plex-mega churches full of endless programming and entertainment if you are on the liberal side? For the "conservatives" why stay SBC, there's plenty of Reformed and Presbys covering that ground. I guess they've lost their "customer base" [said tongue in cheek]

Is that ECLA? Anon? Is Missouri bringing in the gays yet? I know WELS has not. Yes many are leaving and "coming out of her".

As a member of a SBC Church I can say that my home Church is in neither of the two sections y'all have tried to lump us in. We seek after Christ. He is the head of our body. Not the Southern Baptist Convention not my pastor not some man that runs lifeway. Yes I have seen a drop in church membership in young people.. But in the same breathe the young people who are in my church are completely sold out for The Lord! I have to attend the Church that I feel is seeking after Christ the most in my hometown which may be different we're you live Like i said this is only in my particular home church. Each SBC church is different so I can't speak for any other church than my own.

Maybe you are in one of those SBCs that is more old school, but I am curious, does anyone in your church question where the SBC is headed or any of the eumenical or other ties--[don't forget Rick Warren is SBC?] Maybe your church is on the way to being an independent, I don't know. Be careful selecting the best among the worse. I am glad you see people sold out to the Lord, I just wonder do they question some of what I have warned about the SBC? Even the connections to NWO politics, is not good.
