The Shroud of Turin is Phony!

Det 4:16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

Pikes Peak Prophecy Summit Heaps Up Jesus Messiah Rejecter

He exposes about how Barrie Schwortz, Shroud of Turin expert and "knight" of the Pope is invited to the latest Missler and pals, Pikes Peak Prophecy Conference.

Ah that Shroud of Turin nonsense, it's like the Tilma of Guadalupe just another one of Rome's phony relics!

Why are so called evangelicals promoting a relic of the Popes?

 From LA Muzarulli's blog..
"I wept when I first saw the face, in 1980, as I believe it is really him. I don’t worship the image, and it doesn’t add to my salvation. It does, however, leave me speechless as I have a tangible link to events that happened almost 2000 years ago, a cosmic picture, if you will of the event that Christians call the resurrection, made, I believe by God himself, as the lifeless body dematerialized in millions of points of light. Is the man on the Shroud Jesus? That’s up to you to decide for yourself. As for me, the Shroud of Turin is God’s Calling Card."
This allowed me a big sigh....[by the way what is that lifeless body dematerialized stuff all about?]

Because this thing is not a "picture" of Jesus whatsoever. Besides the obvious breaking of the second commandment, it's all wrong. The OT tells us that long hair is a shame unto a man, and they expect Jesus to have long hair? It's just another phony rendition of the Catholic "jesus".

You all may think I am strange with this one, but I knew the Shroud of Turin was phony within the same year I came out of the Catholic church. Take a look at this face... Long hair anorexic like an inverse of the Catholic "hippie" "jesus:....

I had a few art history classes in college, and I know the look of the Medieval art with it's very narrow faces, it "fits".  The Middle Ages was the time of trading of many of a phony relic. There were so many splinters from the cross, they could have made a forest out of them!

Mt 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before.

I didn't need the scientists to tell me it was phony...

Turin Shroud confirmed as fake

I always thought a bas relief method came up with this thing...

"A scientist then laid out a damp linen sheet over the bas-relief and let it dry, so that the thin cloth was moulded onto the face. Using cotton wool, he then carefully dabbed ferric oxide, mixed with gelatine, onto the cloth to make blood-like marks. When the cloth was turned inside-out, the reversed marks resulted in the famous image of the crucified Christ.
Gelatine, an animal by-product rich in collagen, was frequently used by Middle Age painters as a fixative to bind pigments to canvas or wood. The imprinted image turned out to be wash-resistant, impervious to temperatures of 250 C (482 F) and was undamaged by exposure to a range of harsh chemicals, including bisulphite which, without the help of the gelatine, would normally have degraded ferric oxide to the compound ferrous oxide."

and earlier in the article...

"In 1988, scientists carried out carbon-14 dating of the delicate linen cloth and concluded that the material was made some time between 1260 and 1390. Their study prompted the then archbishop of Turin, where the Shroud is stored, to admit that the garment was a hoax. But the debate sharply revived in January this year."

It doesn't match scripture....Jesus was not wrapped in one piece of cloth...

John 20 4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. 5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. 6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself

So why are all these evangelicals promoting that thing?

Shouldn't they know better?

It's actually funny to see a man wearing a white dress, worshiping a piece of cloth put in a black frame that looks like it was purchased from Hobby Lobby.

It would be even more funny, except that the man in the white dress is leading billions to hellfire with his lies.

Good article.
So many do believe and are even idolizing this old piece of cloth. Sad but true.
Pray for them.... and especially for that man in the white dress. Pray he can rid himself of those demons and learn the truth. Then, his followers may learn as well. I am going to try to remember to pray for him every day. Maybe if we all do, it will make a difference.

Kathy, this may sound odd coming from me, but do not waste prayers for the Pope, that man is what the Bible would term a REPROBATE. Considering the wicked deeds he is associated with including the sex abuse victims, he is definitely way beyond SEARED and I would even say DEMON POSSESSED. When I was a new Christian, I used to pray for the Pope, hoping someone would tell him the gospel and that he would be saved and what a change for the world if this was allowed to be shared. [doubtful considering what happened to the guy a few Popes back that wanted to "reform" the Vatican bank]

Do pray for his followers to be saved though and to learn the truth and to depart from him and other deceivers.

He is leading billions to hellfire with the lies, it is too bad he has too many "evangelical" pals who are helping them along too.

Demon possessed to the max.

You may be right, BB, but I am still going to pray for him. I am a new Christian and still learning the gospel. I have not come across anything telling me that. Not yet anyway. We are ALL God's children, right? Instead, I have come across this:
Matthew 5:43-48
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Here's something that jumped out at me right away: '

'. . . It does, however, leave me speechless as I have a tangible link to events that happened almost 2000 years ago, a cosmic picture, if you will of the event that Christians call the resurrection, made, I believe by God himself, as the lifeless body dematerialized in millions of points of light.' (L.A. Marzulli)

Doesn't that term sound familiar?

'The phrase was previously found in C.S. Lewis's 1955 novel The Magician's Nephew, in which Lewis wrote: "One moment there had been nothing but darkness; next moment a thousand, thousand points of light leaped out."'

A thousand thousand is a million. President Bush also used the phrase 'a thousand points of light'.

Like you, I don't trust Missler, Marzulli or the rest of that crowd.

Well said about the false teacher CS Lewis. Why he is lauded in some Bible-believing circles, shows the lack of any true discernment in some Bible-believing circles.

Bible Believer said...

Kathy, just keep in prayer about it and ask God to show you the truth. I do not believe ALL are God's children, some are the children of Satan. Salvation is for all yes, but there are those who have moved to reprobation and made their choice for Satan on this earth with a seared conscience.

"1 Timothy 4: 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Anyone who praises C.S. Lewis, I am wary. There are the newly saved who are babes and simply do not know better yet, but if a preacher, a church or a so called "Christian" book praises CS Lewis that is enough to be wary. He preaches a false "Christianity" and teaches many aspects of paganism and the occult that are strewn throughout his books.

Yes that weird dematerialization stuff jumped out at me too, where I asked in the article what is that?

I wouldn't doubt it has something to do with the "thousand points of light"

and why on earth am I thinking of old Star Trek shows, where they showed the lights showing through the characters as they "transported" them for the special affects.

Lots of funny business out there. CS Lewis sneaks in so much creepy stuff.

For Bush's code "1000 points of light" check out the Chateau des Amerois, better known as the Mothers of Darkness Castle and the cathedral with "points of light" dome. - Don

Did you notice how John 20:7 is written in a foreknowledge way. It's the Lord making it perfectly clear that the shroud is fake. Ive seen many scriptures written that way, that the Lord knew the controversy of our days.

Good scripture BB. Wow, I dont get why ppl dont read the scripture for themselves.

I like the chicken avatar. Made me want to fix up a avatar for myself.

Thanks Don and JL

Yes JL, I believe there are many scriptures written that way, ones that directly deal with false beliefs and the legends and myths Satan's workers come up with like this Shroud of Turin.

It was obvious from the get go, that it was false. One only need to read their bible.

The image of "Jesus" in that turin has long hair. The real Jesus would have had short hair.

1 Corinthians 11:14 "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?"

haha....you guys crack me up...fatima proves the dogma of the catholic church....you guys are fools and snake handlers....

I think that the Shroud may well be real. The issue of the short vs long hair is explained in this way. All Jewish men of Jesus' day c.30 AD had long hair and beards, just as do all orthodox Jews today.

Paul was writing 30 years later to a majority Gentile church in Corinth. Their customs were to have men's hair cut short, hence I Cor 11.

Plus, in regard to the head covering - it was Jewish custom to cover the head with a cloth as soon as death occurred. That cloth would have been removed in the tomb, prior to the cleansing and annointing of Jesus' body. Then the body would have been re-wrapped in the one piece shroud, leaving the head cloth aside, just as it was found by Peter and John.

It has been shown that on a dead body, a wound will start bleeding again after it has been washed. The bleeding can continue for as much as 4 hours due to the involuntary contraction of muscles and such (rigor mortis).

To conclude, the Popes can pray to the Shroud if they want since the RCC has long ignored the 2nd Commandment. But we shouldn't treat the Shroud as anything more than what it is; an amazing piece of history concerning our Lord and Saviour - Yeshua the Messiah of the Jews, and the Saviour of the world.

Treat it just like you would a beautiful painting or any other fascinating historical artifact.
