The Latest With The Religious Right #1

I saw this today:

"Michele Bachmann and Richard Santorum sign the Marriage Vow"

Yes she did sign this document called "The Marriage Vow: A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family." As did Santorum. By the way Catholic Santorum is a member of the Knights of Malta and I found a mainstream newsource back this up:

18. In November 2004, the Santorums were invested as knight and dame of Magistral Grace of the Knights of Malta in a ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.

I am against homosexuality, and pornography but remember what I have talked about regarding the Religious Right many times on this website, and their unity with Dominionism and the use of the culture wars to bring this country into more tyranny under Rome? There are many well-meaning people horrified at some of the things growing in culture, such as the recent acceptance of gay marriage in New York, who are being drawn into the Dominionist net. Ever notice how these folks support the police state? As I remind people all the time, examine these politicians and groups. You'll find a lot which is wrong. Bachmann is a member of the Council of National Policy, you remember LaHaye's Dominionist group with Knights of Malta members? Bachmann by the way signed the Patriot Act. She admits that early in the video here, along with a bunch of excuses.

This Marriage Vow document is kind of scary. On the surface, yes of course Christians stand against homosexuality and against adultery but read through it, do these folks really believe they are going to end homosexuality, divorce, and pornography via their edicts? Marriage is a good thing but should it be elevated to a point where it is created as another idol? What of single people? There are many single folks who are Christian brothers and sisters. The reference to "robust childbearing"[hey children are a blessing] and emphasis on "family" [what of those Christians who do not have a family?] to me denotes the Vision Forum/Quiverful sort of stuff I have already talked about on this blog. What of the group that issued this, The Family Leader?

Back to the Bachmann signing this Marriage Vow document. There was controversy over their foolishness claiming that slaves had two parent homes, anyone who has studied history knows that families including married couples were broken up over and over to be sold. This they later removed.

I watch this parade of politicos and their lies and deception and am very sad how many Christians, who are well meaning, and want to escape the more overt evil of the "other" party, get drawn into the Republican as the "Christian" party. Notice something here on both of the recent logos?

Mat 5:33 ¶-37 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
