Atheists and Job 38

As folks who have read my past blog entries know, I flirted with what they called "freethought" more like "slavethought" while in the UU. I remember my youthful days of stating "I do not believe in God". Much of this came from the false religion of Catholicism, but there's many atheists, secularists out there who remain totally unchurched. I read Free Inquiry magazine, The Humanist--published by the American Humanist association and back in the late 80s "The American Atheist".

What is interesting is how much energy atheists spend in trying to prove there is NO GOD. Thinking of my endless religious debates, it is ironic to look back, why expend so much energy arguing against someone you believe doesn't even exist? That will tell you something about atheists. While many folks end up in the secularist or unsure agnostic category, today we are hearing more and more strident atheists and their voices are getting much more publicity.

Another ironic thing, I found is many do raise their atheism to the level of a religion, with 'freethought" organizations and other publications fulfilling their need to tell the rest of us with the zeal of the most aspiring missionary, that there is no God, and all the troubles in the world prove it! Richard Dawkins and Madalyn Murray O'Hair, are some of the top examples. O'Hair is deceased as a victim of horrible crime while Dawkins is about to be on his death bed, and has issued a prebuttal to any would-be death bed conversions telling us he is going to have a tape recorder switched on so no one can lie and say he converted.

Odd that...if you believe you cease to exist, and all that is left is your body to rot and turn into dust, why does it even matter? Here's a secret, as someone who was an atheist or if we want to be technical an "agnostic"; many inside are indeed wondering in the back of the mind if they are wrong. Regarding young atheists or those who reject God's existence, why do they yell "Oh God!" or "God help me!" when in bad trouble? By the way I did. There are indeed no atheists in foxholes.

Atheists focus on "reason" as one of their prevailing cries, I remember reading this word over and over in Free Inquiry magazine, and many others where "reason" and "logic" were used as words, basically claiming "superior intellect" to wipe away the competition. Dealing with online Jesuits; there will be familiarity with this debate "technique". Usually even the need to make this claim, points to some serious misdirection.

Many atheists are smart people, and there are the sorts who turn to "science" as well as it's own "religion". Science has its limitations, aren't we discovering more of those day by day? The attempt to delay aging and death, the more problems being created in the lab [especially bio-engineering labs], have taken us far from the halycon days of the 50's when science was going to "save us.'There are scientists who ponder the existence of God. One thing, atheists often study religion and the Bible [to disprove it], and often know more about religion [or at least its organizational structures and rituals] more then the participants themselves. Smart people but without faith or wisdom from God, to make sense of things.

This made me laugh...[click to make bigger]

If you truly believe there is no God, why fight it so much? One thing about atheists, at least in the case of some, they really want to know what the truth is, and do not just want to accept whatever they are told. This video, was made by someone called The THINKING ATHEIST, I would like to sit down with this guy and have a few discussions. He sure is down on those who believe in praying. How does he know it doesn't work? Well see the video for yourself. Truly hope he is actually THINKING and not stopped in his tracks for good. God will reward the honest seeker, who desires the actual truth.

None of this is new to me, I used to SAY the same things this guy did in my youth. All the claims that God does not listen, that the problems in the world present God not caring or evil in the world proves God does not exist are all familiar. What happened for me, is from the Bible and with help of the Holy Spirit, I was able to find out the truth. Many atheists, have a false representation of "Christianity" in their minds, many come to see God as like children do Santa Claus, there to fulfill their needs and every request on the spot. One thing, God does sometimes say NO! It is all misunderstandings of God wrapped up in one confusing ball.

While many atheists arrive at their atheist beliefs via intellectual inquiry and rejecting hypocrisy in the churches, others reject even the existence of God based on rebellion, their back is turned on God, saying "well you do NOT exist, leave me alone!" From this article, an interesting claim:

"In studies on college students, atheists and agnostics reported more anger at God during their lifetimes than believers."

I read many of Madalyn Murray O'Hair's writings when I was young, she was a very angry person, who was just as dogmatic and rigid as any Christian she complained about advancing her American Atheist organization and this theme ran through her writing. Her son would grow up to become a Christian preacher [do not agree with all of his beliefs] but wrote a very revealing biography about growing up with his mother in the 1982 book, "My Life Without God".

It was not a story of a happy life and peaceful relationships, but the exact opposite.

The Holy Spirit will lead a person to faith, but one of my wake up calls especially out of total unbelief came from reading the book of Job, This book in the Bible helped me to understand why things happen in this world: why evil is present, breaking out of the satanic trap set which many atheists fall into, where they ask the ever prevailing question..."How can there be a God in a world so evil"? It is a honest question and not wrong to ask, but one which the Bible definitely answers.

One of those answers is Job 38 which helped to wake me up. It helped me to understand Who God truly is it expanded the vision of God beyond the false one given to people,[ look at the video link above in the article], the atheist seems to want God to be like a magic 'genie' answering requests on demand instead of understanding Who God is. Keep witnessing to atheists introducing the gospel and God to them. "Words without knowledge" are definitely becoming prevalent out there.

Job 38 (King James Version)

Job 38
1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

6Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

9When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

10And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

11And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

14It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

15And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

16Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

17Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

18Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

19Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

20That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

21Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

22Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

23Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

24By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

25Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

26To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

27To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

28Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

29Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

30The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

31Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

32Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

33Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

34Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

35Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

36Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

37Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,

38When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?

39Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

40When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

41Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

If anything, these verses should get an atheist to think.......

RE: If you truly believe there is no God, why fight it so much?

Hmm lets see
"The Dark Ages"?
Bruno burnt at the stake?
Galileo?
Salem?
Soapy Sam Wilberforce?
Tennessee anti evolution law and the Scopes Trial?
Creation Science?
Intelligent Design and "The Wedge"?

Religion is poison for the mind, in a modern civilized society it has no place.

Bible Believer said...

The Dark Ages were inspired by the false Catholic church destroying literacy, etc.

Burning at the stake is directly against the words of Jesus Christ in Luke 9; another exmample inherited from the harlot, by the way when Calvin burned Servetus, it was JUST as evil.

Galileo, oppressed by the harlot.

Salem against Luke 9 too.

Luke 9:

54And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

55But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

56For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

Evolution has holes. One can see that there is patterns throughout creation, ie veins have branches just like trees, etc. Even DNA is formed in an orderly way.

Yes a lot of religion is poison, but Christianity is true.

As far as modern science and secular culture being orderly? WE know that isnt working. Look now at how the money system is working in so called "enlightened" society on behalf of greed and evil.

"Civilization" too is a thin veneer as well, as endless wars have proven.

"He sure is down on those who believe in praying. How does he know it doesn't work?"

It does work, but it doesn't work for the reason you expect. It's psychological: if you want something enough and keep your mind set toward it, you will get it. Not because of God but because of you. You will get what you want because you will fight to make it happen. Although, as far as controlling other people and making them believe what you want them to doesn't work out like that. People will do whatever they want, so you can't make them do what they don't want to do.
Personally, as an atheist, I truly have no desire to believe in God. It just doesn't interest me. All I want to believe in is myself. I don't need a God to give me a purpose, no one does. People just think they do, but I am perfectly happy as an atheist and love seeing the world as a place I have to live my life to the fullest on. Because when it comes down to it, if there's nothing left after this life, I want to know I lived it well and didn't just sit around waiting for some knight in shining armor to come an take me away to paradise.
I'd rather go to Hell knowing I lived my first life well, than die into nothing else having not spent my time on Earth wisely. We are the lucky ones to have the honor to be on Earth in the first place, so please don't bash people for living their life the way they want to. As Cain would say, "Am I my brother's keeper?"

This isn't said with hate or malice, but the comment by the atheist anon is foolishness.

Everything you said is a result of societal conditioning.

Of course it's nice to believe that you are accountable to no one and that you are in fact your own god, but it's not truth.

You aren't interested in God because you've already decided that He doesn't exist, not because you really don't care whether He does or not.

How can you make the claim to be an atheist, yet still adhere to worship of self?

My friend, if you're atheism is correct then you are a nothing that came from nothing that exploded and hurled a rock into outer space that was rained on by water from nothing that created slime that evolved into a monkey. Thus, you are nothing more than an evolved ape and no amount of thought power is going to make you a god.

Think about all the teenagers that, being drunk, get into cars with their friends thinking: "meh, I won't crash, it won't happen to me". Does it always work out that way? If not, then your entire belief system needs to be re-thought.

Thankfully the truth is much better, for Jesus Christ died for you because you, a sinner, so that you can inherit eternal life. He paid the punishment you deserve so that through faith in Him you would receive the free gift of salvation.

You, like all of us, fall short of the glory of our God and deserve wrath, yet while you reject His existence, He has paved a way for you to spend eternity with Him.

I know you likely won't read this again, but if any other atheist does, please seek the Lord Jesus Christ and He will be found. He desires you.

Oh great...another guy who think he's got the answer. The problems isn't if God exists, but if GODS EXIST!

The King James Bible is not accurate. It was modified by the Church.

Religion is dangerous and useless today.

Religion held us back for centuries. Yes, some discoveries were made by religious people but that doesn't mean that curious people wouldn't have discovered then mater on! This itself is a good reason for why Atheists claim that there's no evidence for a god and hold debates. If nobody did say it those guy would be free to spread their bullshit!

Bible Believer proved my point. Religion has lead to a lot of bad things.

Also he should know that the society that he calls not that enlightened is quite religious.

The money system that works like that because of greed evil hasn't been stopped by religion ever.

When you are blinded by your faith to see the greed and evil and the truth you know that you are poisoned.

It doesn't matter that there are "wholes" in the "evolution". We're refining it. You're not refining your evolution. Veins and Branches and trees are actually proof taht evolution is real. There are patterns throughout nature, not "creation" because there is no such thing.

Christianity isn't true. Christianity is also poison. It led to the death of millions and heald us back for centuries.

Paul said...

If you believe the Bible to be true you're deluded. If you believe THe King James Bible to be truth you're....I can't even find the words for it.

Why debate the existence of God? Because the concept makes humans less tolerant and do stupid things.

Also the Christian arrogance keeps showing up in this article or post. The problem is that Atheists don't believe in gods, not just the Abrahamic God.

It is actually freethought, not "slavethought".

There are atheists in foxholes. The God thing is a reflex, like a verbal tic.

The thing is if you believe you can give "inside experience" on atheists or "agnostics" you're wrong. Atheism isn't a religion and if you MIGHT be able to give some "inside information" as a former member of a religion, atheism is a cover term for people who don't believe anymore in gods (in other words you can't give inside information on atheists or "agnostics"). What they (atheists) believe in can be more different than the religion of the Olympic Gods and Christianity.

I get the feeling that you became a Christian like you say since you don't like criticism and only posted comments that had an attempted answer. You don't like to be wrong, although some atheists or unbelievers probably proved you wrong.

You're living proof that there are atheist idiots. You don't think!
