The Problems with "Christian" Message Boards
Take it from me, do not make Christian message boards too much of a hobby, they are a mess! Learning from my errors in spending literally hours debating with the recalcitrant, was a waste of too much of my life. I learned a lot: iron can sharpen iron, about the Bible and expanded my own studies, but overall, there was the wasted energy too. This took me time to figure out so this is something I was guilty of TOO, but writing this to get people to THINK: but what is the purpose for Christians to keep arguing with the same set of people for 3, 4, 5, 6+ years? I've watched boards where the same set of evangelicals have pontificated on Mary, the Eucharist, and Purgatory with posts numbering in the thousands to the same Catholics who have refused the gospel literally for years. That ignores this mandate:
Mat 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
That said on many of these boards, a lot of the so called Christians aren't even pretending to preach the gospel or expose error anymore. It's about winning arguments and getting over on people. People get in the flesh and go to battle. This can be a danger especially for those who enjoy intellectual debate, and was a danger for me. If you post on nothing but the homosexuality of the Catholic leadership while ignoring the absolute rot and false teachings in evangelical churches and nothing else to Catholics, where is that going to get you or them?
Arguing with people isn't going to work and will only make them more entrenched. This will not win anyone to the Lord. If you participate on a Christian message board, ask yourself is your time and energy is being used wisely? Don't waste literal years having the same arguments with the same people, be wary of those who when dealing with unbelievers show no love, and are arrogant and mean. Clear out from toxic people and get yourself out of there. Throw the pearls of scripture, gospel and biblical warnings to those who will listen not a group of the seared who will mock and insult you.
Don't think all the time on Christian message boards is bad, I've met some really great people over the years, but I have discerned something seriously wrong with the majority of them.
I warned here about the Scripts that are used worldwide to mislead Christians. Realize each and every one predominates on the majority of Christian message boards out there. This may be an odd admission, but just holding fundamentalist beliefs is enough to get yourself banned off most Christian message boards out there. I have been banned off of a large Baptist board for saying what used to be commonly accepted among Baptists that the Catholic church was the harlot of Rev 17, and on others have suffered censorship and threats of being banned for holding to biblical separation.
Many of the large Christian message boards come with an ecumenical plan. There are a couple very big ones out there, where they even have a pro-Catholic section, Catholic moderators included, just like the evangelical bookstores, with their Catholic section!
On one huge well-known board, that offers a section for every cult, I actually asked a couple months ago, if a fundamentalist Christian section could be added [for those who believe in biblical separation]. I kind of knew from the get-go I'd be turned down. No surprises there. The folks who love Catholic history, the ecumenical movement, Emergent theology, predominate too in many of these places. In many of these places, one can see gentle Christian souls literally bombarded as they come on talking about desiring a home fellowship, or showing any personal vulnerability. I told someone the other day, I have seen secular boards where there has been far more politeness, and day to day kindness then on Christian message boards!
Talking to many people on Christian message boards, outside of the very few minority like-minded Bible Christians, is like talking to brick walls who all say the same exact thing. If you are biblical Christian, you will hear these terms over and over, and no matter the explanation, they will not cease from the script [keep in mind, I am posting the same like I do on this blog] : you are "clanging symbol", you are a "hater", a "legalist", a "Pharisee". Then there is the problem, that on message boards I think more evidence is growing is they are have a large number of knowing deceivers, who are there to serve as change agents, guide the conversations and label the dissenting or biblical Christian with out hesitation. This website, actually goes in depth about this issue. Do not miss this article either. I have personally witnessed many of the things the author talks about. This is not "conspiracy theory" it is real.
The Christian message boards are infiltrated to the max. I do not care if someone considers me a "tin-hatter" for saying this but they are. Spiritual warfare is real, and there are many luciferians, cults and other types with interest in influencing Christians to a certain end. Having spent too much time on them, one notices patterns over the years, and its far worse then anyone could dream. The infiltrators work together by the way too.
There are plenty of the deceived honest types who are merely influenced by false pastors and churches but when you see people contradict themselves even formerly long held beliefs, play two sides of an issue, or realize that someone seems to always be online, no matter their presentation of themselves as a healthy active person with employment, every hour of the day, to immediately answer your "controversial" post, you know something really weird is going on.
Even little two-bit boards, you do not think the powers that be wouldn't care about, seem be taken over those who are not acting as "honest", "sincere" people you are having disagreements with but those with agenda. I have discovered myself personally a message board, that presented itself as being for fundamentalists, but really the people even claiming to be preachers were "fake" and years ago they had even fake church websites which I saw myself [and took those down, I guess with the advent of GPS mapping on Google]. The people running this place are actually anti-fundamentalist Christians and use satanic avatars, and worse. When you see "Christians" putting up vampires when it isn't October as a "cool avatar" or one eye Horus symbols, that should give you a clue. Use discernment to figure out who the badly disciplined teen vs. the occultists marking themselves for other occultists. Names like DarkKnight, Sheepwrecked [get it?], holy mole, are some of the names I've seen used. Some places they don't even try to hide it but they know most of the "asleep", won't notice.
Then still there was another message board, where it consisted of unbelievers on a lark trying to play Christians for fools, by pretending to be "Christians"[every outrageous stereotype was employed as they made a game of playing "Christians", church ladies and fake pastors". I knew within a few minutes, but those who are undiscerning, I saw others being tricked. Then there are others full of closet occultists, cultists and the rest all trying to lead Christians astray. I have seen closet occultists even infiltrate boards of sincere but wrong Catholics, only to be exposed years later. [trust me they will ignore the Christian's earlier warnings]
How can I put this plainly: Christian message boards are dangerous spiritually even beyond the fact so many are infiltrated. The peer pressure to conform, accept error, stop exposing wolves is intense. You will see good cop and bad cop games, and the neo-evangelical contingent never lets up in telling Christians to accept false preachers, not expose error--[abusing the wheat and the tares verse], watering down and worse. I have YET to find a Christian message board that seems to not be compromised in some fashion. If you read this, and know about one, [beyond places of one-three posters] that is true fellowship of Christians in love, tell us about it.
Those who are not walking with God, and who do not have the integrity of their beliefs, could easily fold, hanging out too long on these places, and I have seen it happen. I recently have been convicted to make better use of my time and to avoid Christian message boards more, I may still post links to my articles on different ones, but beyond that my time is going to remain more limited. There are people out there, that are open to the gospel and Christians who want to share true fellowship and will take honest warnings to heart, instead of reacting in anger and abuse.
One thing I know I have to do is apply the Bible more to internet activities and face even my own sins on the web. That means verses like this are to applied to the computer too.
Jam 3:16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.
