Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
In my good fundamentalist baptist church, they helped lay a foundation for me, that was imperative, for my own spiritual growth and that was in teaching to trust in God when it came to money, personal and nation wide economic disasters and tribulation.
As early as 2004, the church seeing economic pressures in my last small town, the pastor preached that one better develop a relationship with God that could stand up to pressure and that include even losing everything. He would tell us that bad times were coming, and we needed to spiritually prepare ahead of time.
This included discussions of knowing that God has promised to provide for his children, this doesn't mean the modern affluent American lifestyle or being provided with a McMansion, but food and shelter. [Matt 6:25] Some of us even as unbelievers have faced lives where food, shelter have been negotiable before, but for those who have taken a certain lifestyle for granted these things could hit even harder if they do not put God first in their lives. One advantage of a life of limited means and status, is one knows those things are not to be depended on, God is. There is a reason Jesus Christ warns about the rich man, the camel, and the eye of the needle.
25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Many of us Christians there would talk about the hard times coming to America, the unemployed around us, and how it would impact the lives of many on different levels. Seeing the earliest rumblings, if things go the way, some are predicting, we are still in the earliest stages of what is to come. Spiritual preparation is even more necessary now.
The dominos are being stacked up, even the secular world is wondering about a world-wide economic collapse! Americans who are paying attention know that something is "different" about this what the elite are calling a "double-dip repression", perhaps to avoid the panic that would ensue from the word depression? There are more people out of work then before, manufacturing is gone, prices and foreclosures are rising, and things are not the same as before.
One website I find of interest, though it does sell some survival gear, backs up its findings with plenty of cites, and that is the economic collapse blog: Read here through their "15 Shocking Poverty Statistics That Are Skyrocketing As The American Middle Class Continues To Be Slowly Wiped Out"
Here is one of the "shocking" examples, check out the rest:
#12 According to one recent survey, 28% of all U.S. households have at least one member that is looking for a full-time job.Another article points out "The Proof is in the numbers, Americans are getting Poorer" and another deals with the overall world markets showing very ominous signs. For some, some of this will remain esoteric, applying only to "others", it is no mystery that a small segment of the population remains out of touch, seeing every story of lost jobs, and foreclosed homes as "isolated" incidents instead of a financial tsunami that is wiping out this nation. This shows up in cruel attitudes towards the poor, I have discussed before on this blog.
One thing too, is realizing the powers that be, almost seem intent on forcefully bringing this country to a collapse, as the bankers clean out the tills with those bail-outs and laws are passed that only lay more burdens to break the American people. Money being made out of thin air, and a corrupt banking and housing system, are all results of a country that has moved away from God, and now being taken advantage of and disassembled by the wicked. Even one of the leaders of the Federal Reserve are now openly warning that America rests on the edge of economic disaster.
Alongside this, secular websites are warning everyone, this youtube video [this is Part I] has a man detailing what a would be economic collapse would mean just for one suburban family where modern life has left them unprepared:
Everyone should avoid date-setting, but considering the talk of a world wide economic storms, the Bible does predict a world wide economic collapse where food costs a huge amount of money:
Rev 6:5 ¶ And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
Rev 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
So what is the answer? This world is going down the chute fast, but we know history has included cycles of depressions, wars and financial disasters though the worldwide scope of this one, is something new. Do not let these things bring you to fear. [Luke 12:7, Luke 12:32] Realize in this world everything does not last and that includes things and wealth. Many have lost everything to do disasters like Katrina already realizing how this world is but a vapor and the things of it will cease to be. [Psalm 37:2] Not everyone is in the financial or other position to "prep" [the preppers movement in America is growing bigger] and is said to be going mainstream, where people are learning to grow their own food, storing up generators, buying land, going to the farm. I believe the Lord will lead many to prepare, but never trust in things rather then Him. Things can be lost. Those who set up their fortress in their giant stockpiles of canned food, and survivalist gear, instead of God will be due for trouble.
When it comes to this money stuff and worrying about the survival of your family and your own, learn to put your worries on God.
1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Listen to His calling, Pray to God and ask Him if there is anything you need to be doing, or if there is anyone in need of help, and pray for their needs too. God as I have experienced will send Christians and help to those who call out to Him. It has happened for me many times. Everything can seem lost and at a dead end, but realize God is there with you no matter how bad it gets.
Phl 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Let Luke 21:34-36 serve in telling you how to deal in what is coming to pass.
34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
